Garaudy: U.S. Turned West Into an Arena for Zionists

TEHRAN The French writer and thinker Roger Garaudy here Sunday termed his trial in Paris as the trial of freedom, adding that it was just a prelude to his struggle against the Zionist regime. Addressing a group of researchers and academicians at the Iranian Foreign Ministry's Institute for Political and International Studies, Garaudy said that penetration of Zionists into the United States and the U.S. dominance over Europe, has turned the West into an arena for Israel. The Muslim thinker said that the Zionists summoned him to court for trial three times and the media strongly criticized him but none of them agreed to print his responses to those criticisms.

Garaudy said he was a victim of the policy of silence which was led by the Zionists. He said in his 1996 book `Founding Myths of Israeli Policy' he said extermination of six million Jews by the Nazis during the World War II was a myth used to justify Israeli actions. Using the term massacre was not correct either, the French writer said.

He said during the World War II about 50 million people were killed throughout the world of which only 1.5 million were Jews. Therefore, speaking of the Jews killed in the war with the number being exaggerated, is a type of apartheid. Asked whether his controversial book for which he was fined is allowed to be printed throughout the world, Garaudy said so far Germany and Switzerland have banned the book.

However, he added, the book has already been printed in 29 spoken languages in many parts of the world from China to Chile. He blamed the U.S. for embolding the Zionist regime and called on all Islamic countries to impose economic sanctions against the U.S. in an effort to defeat the country. The French writer noted that contrary to the Zionist regime's undertakings, it has already violated UN resolutions in 170 cases for which it has neither been blamed nor punished.

He said the Americans see their weak point in their fragile economy, urging Muslims to confront the U.S. and Israel and bring them down to their knees not militarily but through economic means. Garaudy has so far written 55 books, some of which being reprinted for more than 20 times. (IRNA)
