BERLIN (IRNA) -- Minor structural damage on a supporting column was discovered at Frankfurt's World Cup stadium, which hosts Iran's Group D enocunter with Portugal on June 17, the sports press reported on Thursday.

Two small cement sections, each of them the size of a palm, cracked open and were found by construction workers Wednesday night.

The damage was located on the supporting column around 40 meters above the ground on the outside wall of the stadium.

There were no injuries in the incident at the brand new 'Commerzbank Arena' stadium, which cost 188 million euros to build.

Frankfurt's stadium, which will host six World Cup matches, has in the past also experienced problems with its leaky roof as it was unable to keep rain out.

German first division Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt plays its home games at the 'Commerzbank Arena'.
