DAMASCUS (IRNA) -- Syrian Prime Minister Mohammed Naji Otri here on Monday said the next session of the Iran-Syria High Committee will provide a good opportunity for further expansion of wide-ranging relations between the two countries.

The Iran-Syria High Committee session is due to be held in late February, 2007.

During a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Syria Mohammad Hassan Akhtari, the Syrian prime minister reiterated his country's support for Iran's legitimate right to pursue purely peaceful nuclear energy.

He emphasized importance of implementing a project for the transfer of Iranian gas to Syria via Turkey, and called on the three countries' oil ministers to follow up the project.

He also welcomed the opening of an Iranian glass manufacturing factory in his country.

Otri added Syria's industrial and agricultural sectors were in need of products of Iran's Urmia Tractor Manufacturing Company.
