TEHRAN -- Tahmineh Milani, the director of “Ceasefire” psychodramas, plans to try her hand at the stage.

“I have recently completed two plays, one which is ‘We Are the Event that Has Occurred’,” she told the Persian service of ILNA on Wednesday.

“This play has two characters and I am interested in staging it personally as my first experience in theater,” she added.

Milani, whose husband Mohammad Nikbin is the producer of her films, said that the high cost of filmmaking has made conditions hard for them to work.

She is known as the feminist filmmaker of Iranian cinema due to her women-centered films.

Earlier in June 2010, Milani, 55, announced her plans to trying her hand at painting.

“This is an old pledge that when I reached 50, I would begin painting seriously,” she said during a visit to an art show at Sareban Gallery in Tehran.

She is the director of about twenty movies, including “Children of Divorce”, “The Legend of Ah”, “Two Women”, “The Hidden Half”, “The Fifth Reaction” “What Else Is New?”, “Kakadu”, “The Unwanted Woman” (also Known as “The Extra Woman”), “Payback” and “One of Us Two”.

The first part of her “Ceasefire” psychodramas broke Iran’s box office records in 2006.
