TEHRAN Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hamid Reza Assefi said here Tuesday that Iran condemns the attacks on the personnel of an institute affiliated to the UN in the city of Herat in Afghanistan.
The Foreign Ministry's information and Media Department said that Assefi expressed dismay over the killing of 12 of the institute's personnel adding, "unfortunately, the continuation of war in Afghanistan adds new dimensions to the already humanitarian tragedy that is taking place in that country." He also stressed the need for international attention to be more focused on establishing peace and security in Afghanistan, encourage further negotiations between the factions to the conflict and to delineate effective and binding solutions for the country.
Establishing a broad-based government, and rejection of violence and military solutions are the only way to bring peace and security to Afghanistan, he added.
