TEHRAN On the occasion of the birthdays of the Prophet Mohammad (S) and Imam Jafar Sadeq (AS) the 14th International Conference of Islamic Unity will be held in Tehran on June 10. Some 70 Sunni and Shi'ite intellectuals will attend the conference.

The Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, Ayatollah Mohammad Vaez-zadeh-Khorasani said on Wednesday at a press conference that the main reason for sponsoring the conference was to investigate the status of Ahl-ul-Bait (AS) in Islam and for the Islamic Ummah.

Saying that the Ahl-ul-Bait (AS) is the common feature of all Islamic sects, the Ayatollah said that since there are many superficial differences and ambiguities among the Muslims, this topic can be very effective in bringing together different religions.

He also added that more than 160 essays were given to the Conference Secretariat, of which 50 essays would be delivered as lectures in English, Arabic and Farsi.

Khorasani said that some of the most important subjects scheduled to be discused in the conference are the Ahl-ul-Bait (AS) in Qoran, Traditions, the Ahl-ul-Bait (AS) among the followers of the Prophet (S), and affection for the Ahl-ul-Bait (AS) among Islamic
