Australia Ban Marathon Runner After Drug Test
Trampuz was banned pending the outcome of a hearing with an AA tribunal to be held on a date to be confirmed.
The 34-year-old provided the sample following the Paris Marathon on April 8 after she finished eighth in a time of two hours 35 minutes and one second, AA said.
The International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF) informed AA on Friday that the athlete's B sample confirmed the results of the first test.
The B sample was tested on June 27, AA said.
AA have withdrawn Trampuz from the Australian team for the IAAF world championships in Edmonton, Canada in August.
Chief executive Simon Allatson said AA maintained a zero tolerance against doping in sport, Reuters reported.
"Australian track and field athletes are amongst the most stringently tested athletes in Australia and the world, and have one of the best records of any country," Allatson said in an AA statement.
"Athletics Australia does not and will not tolerate doping offenders and takes a very strong stance against drug use in sport.
"We are bound by our own doping policy and that of the IAAF and as the substance nandrolone has been confirmed in Silvana's system, we are required to head toward a hearing."
