Iran Beats India in Second Volleyball Friendly

TEHRAN The national Iranian volleyball team managed to win in its second friendly against the visitor India.

In the clash that was held in the volleyball hall of Azadi Sports Complex, Tehran, on Tuesday the Iranian squad overcame the Indians 3-1.

Iran that had lost to India 3-1 in their first fight, won the first, third, and fourth sets 25-23, 28-26, and 25-19 respectively and lost in the second set 25-20, IRNA reported.

In its second friendly, India had lost to the varsity team of Iran 3-0.

Iran's national volleyball team is getting ready for the world qualifiers in the Asian Volleyball Championships of which draw ceremony of was held in Seoul, South Korea, and the national volleyball teams of Iran, Japan, Uzbekistan, and Hong Kong were placed in Group D.

According to the Iranian Volleyball Federation (IVF), 13 teams in four groups will compete in the Asian event.

The groups are as follows:

Group A:

South Korea, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia

Group B:

China, India, Qatar

Group C:

Australia, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates (UAE)

Group D:

Japan, Iran, Uzbekistan, Hong Kong

The Asian volleyball tournament will be held in the South Korean capital Seoul between September 9-16.
