Feminist Filmmaker’s “Fifth Reaction” to Compete in Swiss Festival
Her “Two Women” has already won the Best Film Award of the festival in 1999.
The film tells the story of a woman, Fereshteh. After her husband dies, her father-in-law who was against his son’s marriage with Fereshteh, takes custody of his grandchildren. When Fereshteh discovers that her father-in-law intends to send her son abroad to live with his aunt, she struggles to take her son back.
“Fifth Reaction” achieved the Best Screenplay Award of the 27th Cairo International Film Festival held on October 7-17 in Egypt.
The film has also been awarded by the U.S. based Association of Iranian Experts this year in Los Angeles. Students of the municipality of Irvine gave their special prize to Milani in the private premiere of the film in a city located in SW California.
The film had also taken part in different Iranian film festivals as well as Chicago and Oslo film festivals in 2003. DFM/SRM/IS END MNA
