TEHRAN (MNA) – In an interview conducted by the Mehr News Agency published on Friday, film producer Jahangir Kowsari expressed his views on the 24th Fajr International Film Festival, which was held last month in Tehran.

Considering the quality of the films, Iranian cinema has reached a new level with the establishment of its second movement, he said, adding, “The number of participants, films, and sections also increased in this year’s festival.

“With the absence of popular filmmakers at this year’s festival, several new and young filmmakers were able to shine, which showed the power of our national cinema, and the fact that we need not worry about the future of Iranian cinema. The youth can easily replace the elderly. They also have the ability to produce new works to maintain the high status of Iranian cinema in the world.”

The producer of “Slowly”, which won the Best Film Crystal Simorgh in the international section, noted that last month’s Fajr festival screened films in various genres, adding, “The international section was also developed this year, and famous foreign filmmakers and festival directors participated in this year’s festival. They chose Iranian cinema and participated in it.”

Recently, young Iranian filmmakers have been inclined toward social themes, and thus it is hoped that they can reflect the problems of the youth in their works, he said in conclusion.
