Iranian, Korean firms to co-build recycling plant in Rudsar

RUDSAR, Gilan Prov. – The project of constructing a recycling plant in this northern city has already started as a joint venture between Iran Tractor Manufacturing Company’s (ITMC) design & production unit and a Korean firm.

The project will be implemented within a 10-year contract that also includes co-building of industrial waste recycling plants in other Iranian cities. The project, ordered by the municipality pf Rudsar, is estimated to cost 34 billion rials. The plant will be consisted of a bio-filtering unit and a waste water treatment facility.

2nd unit of Sanandaj power plant connected to national grid

SANANDAJ, Kordestan Prov. – The unit 2 of Sanandaj gas-fueled power plant is now connected to the national grid.

The first unit was synchronized with the grid three months ago. The plant has four units each with a 159-megawatt power production capacity. The plant’s overall output will hit 1000 Mw upon completion of a combined cycle unit.

Exports from E. Azarbaijan up 20%

TABRIZ, East Azarbaijan Prov. – Since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2005), some 469,209 tons of goods, valued at $429.27 million, was exported from this northwestern province.

This showed 20 percent increase (in terms of value) in comparison with the corresponding period last year. Petrochemicals comprised the lion’s share of exports with 61,404 tons at 49 million dollars. The volume was also consisted of clothing, industrial commodities, dried fruits, raw polystyrene, biscuits, and foodstuffs, and was destined for Afghanistan, Venezuela, China, Pakistan, Syria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iraq, and Ukraine.

Iran stands 5th in coldwater fish production: IFO official

SHIRAZ, Fars Prov. – An official from Iran’s Fisheries Organization said here Friday that Iran ranks fifth in the world in terms of coldwater fish production.

The country’s coldwater fish production had grown by 37.6 percent in 2002, Meygolinejad uttered, implying that of a total of 470,000 tons of fish that is annually produced some 125,000 tons is produced in the fish ponds across the country. Most of the country’s fish is caught and produced in Gilan, Mazandaran, Khuzestan, Kermanshah, Kohgiluyeh, and Fars provinces. “The per capita fish consumption in Iran is slightly more than six kilograms, which is about 10 kilograms lower than the average world rate,” Meygolinejad stated. The number is projected to reach 10 kg by the end of the Fourth Development Plan (2005-10), he added.

Hormozgani ports record 15% increase in unloading of oil commodities

BANDAR ABBAS, Hormozgan Prov. – Some 4.4 million tons of oil products were unloaded in the ports of this southern Iranian province during the past eleven months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2005-February 19, 2006), showing 15% increase compared to the same period last year.

Stevedoring of goods (oil and non-oil) in these ports totally reached 61.44 million tons in the said period to corroborate five percent increase. However, export of non-oil commodities via these ports totaled 9.47 million tons, which showed 38% increase, while some 14.65 million tons of oil goods were exported via Hormozgani ports to set a 9% decrease. Meanwhile, transit of oil and non-oil goods in this eleven-month period respectively showed 59 percent decrease and 42 percent increase.

Iran exports 2m tons of cement in 11 months

TEHRAN – In an eleven-month period since the beginning of the current Iranian year, Iran exported some 1.9 million tons of cement, which is less than 7% of the country’s total cement production in the same period.

Some $1.4 billion of credit has so far been allocated for developing Iran’s cement production industry, i.e. to increase the total output by 47 million tons, of which 70% will be spent on fulfilling development plans at the existing cement plants.
