TEHRAN – ZTE Corporation of China is the first-round winner of procurement tender on Second GSM Operator of Irancell. The giant leading telecommunication equipment supplier is also going to furnish the GSM project with the products and solutions adopted across 70 countries around the world since 1985, chief representative of the company Fu Guowu told the Tehran Times in an exclusive interview.

The ZTE is not a freshman to Iranian market and it has deployed 14 kinds of telecom products in 6 categories in 24 provinces of Iran since 2000. So far, in Iran alone, the company has built more than 1600 GSM BTS sites and 5 major telecom centers out of 8, through GSM WLL tenders, which are equipped by ZTE products. Remarkably, all the mentioned sites have been constructed in just one and a half years by ZTE alone, whereas, the three European vendors had spent 8 years to finish 5500 sites.

Furthermore, ZTE has been following a twofold policy of localized development and technology transfer by having local human resources involved in the projects while establishing a long term and close partnership with native partners and subcontractors. This policy is fully in line with the Iranian government’s Localization Policy.

It is noteworthy emphasizing that the site survey, system installation and related engineering works were fulfilled by indigenous partners in all of ZTE’s turnkey GSM WLL projects in Iran. ZTE, as a public company listed in Chinese stock market whose main shares owned by the state, enjoys full support from Chinese government.
