WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday passed a resolution condemning Iran for its nuclear program, and urging the international community to apply sanctions to deny Iran what it claimed the ability to develop atomic weapons.

The nonbinding measure, which passed 404-4, backs efforts to report Iran to the United Nations Security Council. It also says Iran has "forfeited the right to develop any aspect of a nuclear fuel cycle" for failing to resolve suspicions that it is trying to build nuclear bombs.

The International Atomic Energy Agency, the UN nuclear watchdog, not found hard proof that Iran is seeking nuclear arms. House Speaker Dennis Hastert, an Illinois Republican, said the Iranian government "has blatantly ignored its international obligations ... and instead headed down a path of dangerous, deadly destruction."

The Senate last month also passed a resolution condemning Iran for its atomic program.
