TEHRAN (PIN) – Amak project for gathering associated gas at Ahvaz Bangestan, Ab Teimur, Mansuri, Kupal, and Marun oil fields if the biggest environmental problem that has been thus far implemented by Iran’s oil and gas industry and will prevent daily emission of 7,500 tons hydrocarbon pollutants once in full swing.

Completion of Ahvaz 1, 2, and 3; Maroun 3, Kupal, Ab Teimur, and Mansouri gas collection stations, the volume of pollutants to be gathered will be 36 times pollutant gases in Tehran.

Amak is the first full mechanized plan to be implemented in south oil regions and is one of the most complicated projects of Iran’s oil industry which has been totally carried out by domestic engineers and specialists. Revenues through collection and sweetening sour gas through the project has been estimated at 350 million dollars a year.

The National Iranian Oil Company is project’s client and it is being implemented by Petroleum Engineering and Development Company, which is general contractor for a consortium comprising Iritek and IRASCO companies. The contract is buyback and will be carried out as EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction). Implementation of the plan started in June 2000 through a contract worth 306.9 million dollars. Total costs including costs of finance and other costs up to repayment period will exceed 432.033 million dollars.

The plan includes complete engineering operations, purchase and construction of seven sour gas compression stations, a gas sweetening unit, and a compression unit for acid gas, as well as about 280 km of gas transfer pipeline and about 100 km power transmission line.

About 140 consultant engineering, contractor and manufacturing companies are involved in the plan.
