TEHRAN -- The Iranian literary monthly Bokhara plans to pay tribute to the Swiss novelist Max Frisch in a ceremony at Tehran’s Iranian Artists Forum today.

The Swiss ambassador to Iran, Phillip Volti, is scheduled to make a speech about the personality and character of this renowned author.

Frisch’s 1954 novel “Stiller” was recently translated into Persian by Ali-Asghar Haddad, and his play “Andorra” has been staged by Hamid Samandarian.

Bokhara managing director, Ali Dehbashi will familiarize the audience with Frisch as an author. Asghar Haddad will discuss his novels and Shirin Bozorgmehr will talk about his plays. Hamid Samandarian will give an exposition on the play “Andorra”.

A documentary about the life of Frisch will be screened at the end of the ceremony.

Max Frisch (May 15, 1911 – April 4, 1991) was a Swiss architect, playwright and novelist, and one of the foremost writers of German literature after World War II.

Frisch paid particular attention in his creative works to issues relating to human identity, individuality, responsibility, morality and political commitment.
