TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Speaker of Kazakhstan's Senate Nurtay Abikaev said on Thursday that his country fully supports Iran's nuclear activities for peaceful purposes.

In a meeting with Majlis Speaker Gholam-Reza Haddad-Adel in Tehran, Abikaev stressed the significance of expansion of Iran-Kazakhstan relations and said that the two countries views on many regional matters are similar.

According to a report released by Majlis Media Department, the Kazakh Senate speaker invited Haddad-Adel to attend the second religions conference due to be held in his country in the current year and reiterated the need to strengthen and raise the level of parliamentary relations.

For his part, Haddad-Adel underlined that today man needs peace and ethics more than ever.

He said that peace and ethics without religion is similar to a tree with no root, adding that religion should have an effective role in developments of the contemporary world. The official strongly criticized those attempting to attribute terrorism to Islam and said, "Peace and friendship are the message of all divine religions. Associating terrorism with Islam is a means to conceal the injustice committed by the big powers towards Muslims."

He expressed satisfaction with the growing trend of mutual relations and said that the prospect of collaboration between the two states is bright and promising.

Haddad-Adel said that there are many fields in which the level of multifaceted cooperation can be raised, which should be used optimally.

He underlined the decisive role of parliaments in expansion of bilateral ties and declared the readiness of Iranian Majlis to support strengthening of mutual bonds, in particular the inter-parliamentary ones.
