TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki here Sunday said that for the first time the Zionist regime's army has faced difficulties and been forced to bow down in a war with the Lebanese Islamic Resistance.

Speaking in a meeting with visiting Senegalese Prime Minister Macky Sall, he said the actions of the Zionist regime in demolishing residential units and targeting innocent people all indicate the regime's sinister objectives to enhance its domination and hegemony over Lebanese and Palestinian territories.

Referring to the draft resolution on Lebanon, Mottaki said the resolution does not reflect the basic elements on which the Lebanese people are in consensus.

He said the resolution also ignores the factors of Israeli occupation, having an improper literature and an unbalanced framework.

Turning to Iran-Senegal relations, Mottaki said ties with Africa have a special status in Iran's foreign policy and Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade has always been regarded as an influential personality on African issues and in the Organization of the Islamic Conference.

He added that ties between Tehran and Dakar have undergone remarkable change following Wade's Iran visit.

The top Iranian diplomat called for mutual cooperation in trade, car manufacturing and related issues at the international forums.

Sall, for his part, condemned the inhumane actions of Israel in Lebanon and called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire.

He said Senegal has always been supporting Palestine's stances for ending occupation and establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

The Senegalese official said there are vast grounds for cooperation between Tehran and Dakar including energy.

He hailed Iran's constructive role in the Middle East, saying his country respects Iran.

He concluded that his country has good experience in refining, believing that mutual cooperation in the sector will have immense benefits for both sides.
