TEHRAN –- Iran is in need of new and comprehensive strategies to cooperate with international organizations, Deputy Head of the Expediency Council’s Center for Strategic Research in International Affairs Hossein Musavian said here on Monday.

“Iran should make efforts to gain an appropriate place in international organizations in accordance with its civilization, history, and its national, regional, and geopolitical significance,” Musavian said in a speech addressed to the participants of a conference on approaches to promote Iran’s position in international organizations. International institutes have direct and indirect influence on all global developments, he stated, adding, “In the modern world there is no government that is not involved in one or some international organizations.”

“The countries have realized that establishing close relations with international bodies and associating with them constructively has important benefits which would create more international opportunities,” the former nuclear negotiator observed.

He went on to say that international organizations have a key role in helping intellectuals exchange information and messages.

Musavi voiced optimism that the conference, in which prominent Iranian academics, diplomats, and UN officials took part, will be a step toward bolstering Iran’s position in international organizations.
