TEHRAN – The Energy Ministry is planning to select a contractor company to build a large dam and power plant in Lorestan Province.

The ministry has launched an international bid based on which a contractor company will be chosen by the year-end (Iranian year ends March 21, 2006) for the building of the Rudbar Dam and its associated 450-megawatt power plant.

Fourteen Iranian and foreign consortiums have applied for the project development. Only four of the applicants have been endorsed.

The project scheduled to be built in the nation’s deprived western province of Lorestan will be completed four years after the LC opening. The €250 million project will be completed through foreign investment financing. RA/MA END MNA
