VATICAN CITY (AP) -- Pope Benedict XVI will travel to Turkey next month, the Vatican said Monday, confirming a visit that had been threatened by his remarks on Islam and violence.

The trip from Nov. 28 to Dec. 1 will be the pontiff's first to a predominantly Muslim country.

It will include the cities of Ankara, Istanbul, Ephesus and Izmir, the Vatican said.
