TEHRAN – Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly, Majlis, will start final deliberation on the so-called ‘Gasoline Bill’ October 22, 2006, chairman of Majlis Energy Committee Kamal Daneshyar noted on Wednesday.

“The import bill has not received any aye vote in Budget and Plan Committee which is contrary to the general view in Majlis,” the Persian service of PIN (Petroenergy Information Network) quoted the chairman as saying.

“Rationing gasoline by coupon is not on the agenda and the importation is definitely going to continue well through the fall if not by yearend (March 20, 2007),” he noted, adding that the ‘smart card bill’ is still under consideration and is yet to be voted on.

Gasoline import cost Iran 10 billion dollars a year topped by domestic subsidy paid by the government.
