KUALA LUMPUR – Iran stood second at the judo event of the 9th Far East and South Pacific Games for the Disabled (FESPIC) here Monday.

With two gold, four silver, and one bronze medals, the Iranian team finished runner-up to Japan that snatched three golds, one silver, and three bronzes.

Taiwan stood third with an asset of one gold, two silvers, and one bronze.

Mohammadreza Ya'qubi registered his name as Iran's first wheelchair tennis medalist by bagging bronze.

Ya'qubi disposed of the Malaysian quarterfinalist with a 2-0 (6-16-3) romp, but he finished third after conceding a 2-0 (6-2 6-3) loss to his Thai rival in the semifinal, IRNA reported.

Iran also took the second place of cycling tournament.

One gold, one silver, and one bronze medals helped the Iranian team stick to the heels of champion China that garnered two gold and one bronze medals.

South Korea stood third with one silver and one bronze medals and host Malaysia finished fourth with one silver medal.

Iran's powerful sitting volleyball side handed Myanmar a straight sets defeat.

The Iranian team won 25-8, 25-10, 25-4, celebrating the second victory. Iran had already overcome Kazakhstan 3-0.

A'zam Khodayari from Iran finished runner-up at the women's disc event.

Khodayari grabbed the silver at the F57 class with a 25.79m throw while her Chinese rival stood top with a 26.91m record and the bronze went to Myanmar's representative who registered a 14.76m mark.

The Iranian thrower expressed satisfaction with the result.
