TEHRAN – Construction of third PTA unit at Shahid Tondguyan Petrochemical Complex in Pars Special Energy Economic Zone of Assaluyeh, southern Iran, is in line with the projects defined by the Fifth 4-Year Petrochemical Plan, managing director of the complex told PIN (Petroenergy Information Network) on Sunday.
The purified terephthalic acid unit is to complement paraxylene production at Borzuyeh complex, Assaluyeh, should a fluctuation in exports take place, Ali-Mohammad Basaqzadeh continued, adding the paraxylene is going to come on stream by yearend (Iranian year ending March 21, 2007).
“PTA tonnage must be justified, for it must be close to paraxylene unit,” he said, projecting that Tondguyan, in future, would likely use all the paraxylene produced at Bu-Ali and Imam Khomeini complexes.
Shahid Tondguyan Petrochemical Complex is comprised of two phases and full implementation of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) project will earn the country $800 million per annum export of 800,000 tons.
