TEHRAN -- Iranian and Croatian officials have agreed to hold an exhibition of Iranian miniature works in Croatia in the autumn.

Curator of the National Museum of Iran, Mohammadreza Kargar announced on Tuesday that following the exhibition “7000 years of Iranian Art”, which was held in Croatia in 2005, cultural ties between the two countries have entered a new stage. He added, “There have been several requests from Croatian cultural officials over the past months that an exhibition of Iranian miniatures be held in their country. The proposition was reviewed by the Cultural Department of the Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Organization (CHTHO) and was finally accepted.” He went on to say, “The exhibit will review the history of miniature painting in Iran from the pre-Islamic era up until modern times. This school of Iranian painting reached it height during the Safavid, Timurid, and Qajar dynasties, and beautiful masterpieces dating from these eras have been preserved in museums.
