Presidentcalls on academics to help codify next development plan

MASHHAD (IRNA) -- President Mahmud Ahmadinejad called on academics and researchers of all universities on Saturday to help government formulate next five-year Development Plan.

Addressing the closing ceremony of a gathering of Basiji (Volunteer) academics and researchers in the northeastern province of Khorassan, the president said, ""We should construct the country based on the ideal patterns of the Islamic Revolution."" Noting that the difficult task of drawing up the next five-year Development Plan would begin soon, the president urged all Basiji academics and researchers ""to have a serious and active cooperation with the government"" to this end. ""We have to trust ourselves and our potentials and formulate the plan so that it would make use of all national capacities,"" President Ahmadinejad stressed. He added the next Development Plan should facilitate implementation of the 20-year Vision Plan, guarantee Iranians' dignity, and help prevent injustice and suppression in the world. ""Today, we are responsible to break and dismiss absurd thoughts and replace them with appropriate patterns based on Islamic thoughts,"" he added.
