TEHRAN (Press TV) -- The Islamic Republic of Iran and Russia have discussed the latest developments in the Middle East, with Lebanon taking center stage.

In a meeting between Iran's Ambassador to Moscow Gholamreza Ansari and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Yakovenko, the two sides explored avenues for settling crises in the Middle East. The two officials also exchanged views on the implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1701 on Lebanon. The Russian diplomat stressed the importance of complete implementation of Resolution 1701 by all parties involved in the Lebanese crisis. Russia has condemned the Zionist regime's 33-day imposed war on Lebanon last summer and fully supported Beirut. Moscow made great efforts at the Security Council to stop the Zionist regime's attack on Lebanon and played a role in adoption of Resolution 1701
