1st synchronized swimming school for women to be established in Iran

TEHRAN – The first school of synchronized swimming for women is to be established here following the nationwide swimming contest which was held in the western Iranian city of Kermanshah on Thursday, the female chairperson of Iran’s Synchronized Swimming Committee, Mojgan Ghorbani announced.
Emphasizing that Iranian swimmers have reached a high standard in the sport and that they also receive specialized training and workouts, Ghorbani noted that developments naturally lead towards the formation of a school for synchronized swimming.Speaking in a press conference, prior to the 5th round of the nationwide swimming contests, Ghorbani announced plans for the formation of the first national synchronized swimming team. She also mentioned that an international round of contests are to be held simultaneously with FINA Day and the Iranian Ten-Day Dawn of the Islamic Revolution (Feb 1-11) celebrations.
High-ranking teams from Sri Lanka, Korea and Malaysia are to participate in the contests.
Synchronized swimming competitions will also be held in the Islamic Women’s contests, which are held every four years, Ghorbani announced.
