TEHRAN -- The Second Visual Arts Festival will open at Niavaran Cultural Center and Aseman Complex on June 13.

This year’s biennial is dedicated to artists under 25 years old and will display works on painting, poster design, illustration, and painting-calligraphy, manager of the festival Seifollah Puya-Rad said.
“The event aims to support young artists, create opportunity for the youth to display their ability in art, and help find the talented artists,” Puya-Rad said, adding that this will also provide the ground for the youth to exchange experience with veteran artists.
The interested applicants are invited to submit photos of maximum three works to the secretariat of the festival before April 29, he explained.
The festival is cosponsored by the Damonfar Company which is the Iranian representative of France’s Pebeo and Germany’s Faber Castell, the two companies manufacturing art materials.
Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, Niavaran Cultural Center, Saba Art and Cultural Institute, and the Visual Arts Office are other sponsors of the event.
The first festival was held in July 2006 in which 1150 artists took part. The works were judged by a team of veteran artists including Hossein Khosrojerdi, Mohammad Ehsaii, Farah Osuli, Mehdi Hosseini, headed by Aidin Aghdashlu.
