TEHRAN -- The blast at a religious center in Shiraz was caused by explosives left over from a war exhibition, secretariat of the State Security Council announced in an statement on Wednesday.

An explosion at the Hosseinieh Sayyedol Shohada religious center in the southwestern city of Shiraz, the capital of Fars Province, killed 12 people and injured 202 on Saturday.
An exhibition of achievements of the Sacred Defense (1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war) had recently been held at the site.
The statement rejected the reports on the possibility of explosives being transferred from outside the religious center and involvement of domestic or foreign elements in the deadly blast.
“The real cause of the tragic incident on 12.04.2008 was the explosion of some ammunition in Hosseinieh Sayyedol Shohada, and the idea of explosion of a bomb... is rejected,” the statement read.
Expert investigations are still being carried out on details of the incident, and the final findings will be announced soon, the statement added.
The secretariat also asked all reporters and journalists to avoid speculations or making inexpert statements about the blast
