TEHRAN – Iran’s Agricultural Jihad Minister Mohammadreza Eskandari and his Ecuadorian counterpart Walter Poveda Ricaurte signed two MOUs here on Saturday.

In the signing ceremony, Eskandari said that Iran domestic consumption of banana is about 600,000 tons which could be imported from Ecuador since the country has surplus production of the fruit.
According to the signed MoU, the two ministries will strengthen cooperation in the fields of agriculture, husbandry and fishery.
The MOUs contains the exchange of agro outputs, technical and engineering cooperation, drainage, and transferring the know-how and experiences of livestock health specially the vaccination.
Poveda Ricaurte, for his part, underlined the necessity of expansion of bilateral agricultural ties, saying that the MOU is the first agreement between Iran and Ecuador which will strengthen the countries’ relations.
Eskandari added that the trade volume of the countries stands at $20 million of which $16 million is related to Iran’s exports to Ecuador.
