BEIJING -- Hamzeh Mohammadi Thursday ended Iran's gold medal draught in the 2008 Beijing Paralympic power-lifting competitions.

In men's 60 kg category, Mohammadi lifted 202.5 kg to win the gold and broke the previous Paralympic record as well.
The Iranian Paralympic Hercules tried 205.5 kg in his fourth attempt to challenge the world record, which is 203 kg made by Mohammadi himself but failed.
“I am really happy to win the gold medal. I trained so hard over the past 10 months. I thank all people particularly my trainers, “he said in the news conference held after the competitions at the BUAA Gymnasium.
Ayrat Zakiev from Russia finished second with 200 kg and Egyptian Yehia Ibrahim Shaban took the bronze in the category after lifting 195 kg.
Judoka Saeed Rahmati and discus thrower Ali Mohammadyari have already claimed the silver medal for Iran.
Javad Hardani has won the bronze in javelin as well
