Avay-e Mehrabani to honor vocalist Ebrahimi

TEHRAN -- Veteran Iranian vocalist Ahmad Ebrahimi accompanied Avay-e Mehrabani ensemble during its concerts at the Vahdat Hall on October 22 and 23.
“I always had hoped to give a joint concert accompanied by master Ebrahimi from the time that I was his student and these concerts are a commemoration of master Ebrahimi,” remarked conductor Soheila Purgerami during a press conference on Monday.Songs will be performed in commemoration of veteran Iranian poets and musicians during the concerts. Some of the poems have been composed by veteran poets Rahi Moayyeri and Mir Nasser Sharifi, Ebrahimi said during the conference.
“Purgerami and the ensemble will accompany me in some pieces along with the choir as I recite some couplets by Baba Taher,” he added.
At the conference, Shahin Shahbazi, who is the composer of the music performed in the concerts, said that the first half of the concerts is dedicated to traditional pieces of Persian music
The performances of first part are accompanied by a violin and violin cello ensemble to modernize the pieces. Music of the Khorasan region will be performed in the second half of the concert, he added.
