TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Substitute Friday prayers leader of Tehran Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami here Friday dismissed recent “uncalculated” anti-Iran claims of the U.S.’ “nouveau de rich” President-Elect Barack Obama.
“It seems that the “nouveau de rich” has not identified Iran well. One should make him know Iran properly. He (Obama) has recently claimed that Iran’s development of its nuclear arms are unacceptable; that its support for (the so-called) terrorist groups such as Hizbollah (of Lebanon) is unacceptable and that we should try to pile up economic pressures on Iran,” Khatami in his second sermon to this week’s Friday prayers congregation at Tehran University campus quoted Obama as claiming.
“He (Obama) has raised the carrot and stick policy. The claims are the claims of an immature person; a nouveau de rich person who has newly come on power and circles around a false universe and his dreams,” he added.
Khatami said, “The policy of deception and lies has caused disgrace for all the U.S. presidents and Obama should see that (the outgoing U.S. President George W.) Bush is leaving the White House with humiliation and fiasco due to his lies and deceptions. Obama should bear in mind that the world people have not forgotten you claiming in your election campaigns that Iran has no nuclear weapons.
What has happened that you are scary of development of Iran’s nuclear weapons today? This means lie; this means deception. It’s bad for you to enter White House with lies and deception.”
He announced that Iran is the land of brave men and women who 30 years ago toppled and buried the monarchical regime, which was fully supported by the U.S.
“This Iran is the same Iran that has over the past 30 years turned whole the (former) U.S. presidents, wishing to attack Iran, hopeless.
They made (Jimmy) Carter, (Ronald) Raygan, (George HW) Bush, (Bill) Clinton and (George W.) Bush all hopeless. We are not alone in this claim. That’s something the U.S. State Secretary says explicitly. Speaking with the great Iranian nation in language of threat is not worthwhile of the one who considers himself as the U.S. President. We say explicitly and fearlessly that we honorably defend Lebanese Hizbollah resistance and its brave and combatant leader Seyed Hassan Nasrallah. These are not terrorists. These are the great men who defend their dignity and independence. If you wish to find terrorist, it is the forged government of Israel that is terrorist because it makes assassinations openly.”
He warned Obama of risks posed by Zionists.
“We tell Obama that his current policy will lead him to the White House with hatred of Muslims and the world freedom thinkers. But if he wishes to subside the hatred a bit, he should stop making such worthless and unwise claims,” he announced.
