TEHRAN -- Majlis Vice-Speaker Mohammad-Hassan Aboutorabi-Fard on Monday said that despite all its repercussions, the Zionist regime’s criminal acts against the people of the Gaza Strip have united Sunni and Shiite Muslim nations.

He made the remarks in a conference entitled “Gaza Awaits Unity” attended by a number of Iranian Sunni clerics in Tehran.
He stated today the world is witnessing the “unsteadiness” of the Zionist regime.
If Muslims retain their unity they can celebrate further achievements in the future.
He went on to say that the Islamic Republic of Iran has been supporting the Palestinian nation under the slogan of “Palestine is the major issue in the Islamic world” which was proposed by Imam Khomeini.
World’s politicians are fully aware of the fact that during the three decades since the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the country has paid the “highest price” for promoting this slogan, he pointed out.
Even in the hardest days of 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war, the Islamic Republic of Iran put opposition to the Zionist regime as its top priority, he added.
“With the valiant resistance in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian people have gained the upper hand,” Aboutorabi-Fard said, adding that Israel has once again suffered a bitter defeat.
He also criticized Saudi Arabia for its inaction over the Gaza crisis, saying the recent Middle East conflict was a “perfect test” that the Arab state failed.
