TEHRAN -- The Iranian Office for Visual Arts, an affiliate of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, is to provide scholarships to Iranian artists to travel to foreign countries.

Artists willing to go to foreign countries for further studies will get the opportunity to travel abroad on a scholarship, expert of the Visual Arts Office Gholamali Taheri told the Persian service of CHN.
The idea was first proposed and then approved with the cooperation of director of the Office for Visual Arts Mahmud Shaluii, Taheri noted.
“If an artist gets a score between 90 to 100, the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art (affiliated with the Office for Visual Arts) will pay all expenses, and even if he gets something between 50 to 70, the museum will at least pay for the visa and accommodations,” he added.
The quality of artwork, the number of solo exhibitions, participation in national and international exhibits, the diploma, the awards as well as experience in teaching at universities are all among the items considered in giving a score to an individual artist, Taheri stated.
The Office for Visual Arts currently has possession of four apartments in the town Cote d’Azur in France which are ready to play host to Iranian artists, he concluded.
