“Mukhtarnameh” shooting completed

TEHRAN -- The filming of Davud Mirbaqeri’s historical TV series “Mukhtarnameh” was completed on June 22, taking over five years to finish.

In a report released by Sima Film, the last scene was shot in Ahmadabad Mostofi, a suburb of Tehran, in which no actor played a role.
“Mukhtarnameh” is about Al-Mukhtar ibn Abu Ubayd at-Thaqafi, also known as Mukhtar Thaqafi, a Shia Muslim leader who set up a movement in 686 in the town of Kufa to avenge the death of Imam Hussein (AS).
Starring Reza Kianian, Fariborz Arabnia, Reza Ruygari, and Rahman Baqerian, “Mukhtarnameh” is the sixth TV series directed by Davud Mirbaqeri, which includes 26 episodes and is produced by Sima Films.
The story begins at the time of the Imamate of Imam Hassan (AS), reviews the events leading to the martyrdom of the Imam and ends with the adolescence of Mukhtar.
The second episode reviews 16 years of Mukhtar’s life and includes the death of Mu’awiyah, the succession of Yazid ibn-Mu’awiyah, and the events leading to Ashura and whatever related to the uprising of Mukhtar until his and his companions’ martyrdom.
Alireza Alavian and Iraj Shahrzadi are currently busy editing and recording the sound track of the series.
Filming began in the year 2004 in a region near Kashan. It continued in different locations in Aran, Bidgol, Shahrud, Abadan, Shushtar, Varamin, and Qazvin.
The series “The Tribe of Love,” “A Fully Loaded Gun,” “Blue like the Sea,” “Good Ride” and the feature-length movies “Lover Killing Tradition” and “Somewhere Faraway” are among Mirbaqeri’s other credits as a producer.
