TEHRAN (FNA) - Head of Iran's Red Crescent Society Seyed Masoud Khatami met with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani in Baghdad on Monday.

At the meeting, Khatami briefed Talabani on the plans and programs of the Iranian RC Society for helping the Iraqi people and providing service for Iranian pilgrims in Iraq.
Khatami further laid emphasis on coordinated activities of the two countries' RC societies.
Also during the meeting attended by Iranian Ambassador to Iraq Hassan Kazemi Qomi, the Iraqi president described services provided by Iran's Red Crescent as proper, and asked for Iran's cooperation with Iraq's Red Crescent Society.
Khatami and his accompanying delegation had earlier met with Iraqi health minister, Iraq's Red Crescent officials and governor-generals of Karbala and Najaf provinces.
On Sunday, Iran and Iraq's Red Crescent societies signed an agreement on mutual cooperation.
Director General of Iran's Red Crescent organization Abdul-Raouf Adib told FNA that the agreement came at the end of the talks which embraced various issues on mutual cooperation.
Later, the Iranian delegation travelled to the two holy cities of Najaf and Karbala to visit the hospitals under construction by Iran's Red Crescent and the medical centers allocated to the Iranian pilgrims in the two southern Iraqi cities.
