Winners of 6th Bismillah Festival announced

TEHRAN -- Winners of the 6th Bismillah Festival were announced in a ceremony held at the Niavaran Cultural Center on Friday evening.
At the ceremony, the director of the festival Mohammadreza Kamarei announced the goals of the event.“The discovery of young talents, fair competition, the development of spiritual art and Iranian graphic arts are the main goals of the festival,” he said.
He stressed that the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance did not give any financial aid and that the festival is held by non-governmental organizations.
After that, Afshin Karami’s book “The Qualities and Virtues of Bismillah” was unveiled and Karami explained briefly about his book.
“I had been planning a work on the characteristics of Bismillah since six years ago when Muslims began their work for this term,” he said.
The artworks were selected by the jury members of the festival, which included Mehrdad Keshtiara, Ehsan Parsa, Mostafa Owji and Fereidun Mardani.
Afterwards, the winners were presented with awards. In the poster section, no works merited a prize; however, Abbas Khodaii from Karaj received an honorary diploma.
Roqieh Bavafa from Tehran, Alireza Nazarbeigi from Tehran and Hassan Abbasi from Hamedan received the honorary diplomas in the logotype section.
In addition, Rasul Parvari-Moqaddam from Rasht, Sudabeh Haqiqat from Shiraz and Abbas Sadi from Semnan received honorary diplomas in the side section of logo design of the world peace poster.
About 3700 artworks were submitted to the secretariat of the gala out of which 130 works were selected for competition and thirteen of them were selected for awards, Kamarei mentioned.
The exhibit will run in other countries including Italy, Tunes, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, he added.
The exhibit of the selected works will run until September 15 at the Niavaran Cultural Center located at the end of the Pasdaran St. in the Niavaran neighborhood of northern Tehran.
