TEHRAN -- Iranian scholar Tahmures Sajedi has recently completed a book studying 700 years of Iranology in France.
Hermes, Sokhan, and Amir Kabir have shown interest in publishing “A History of Iranology in France”, but Sajedi is not definite about any of the publishers, the Persian Service of the MNA reported on Monday.Sajedi has spent 16 years writing the book, mostly in France, which surveys the history of Iranology from the early 13th century to the late 19th century
“The aim of the research is to determine how the French helped the world to better know Iran,” Sajedi said.
Iranian studies by French Orientalists including Eugene Burnouf, Henry Corbin, Charles-Henri de Fouchecour and several other scholars who traveled to Iran from the 13th to the 19th century to decipher ancient Iranian inscriptions have been used in writing this book.
