TEHRAN - Expediency Council Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani has said a plan to end the current disputes in society has been formulated by a number of compassionate Expediency Council members.

At a session of the Assembly of Experts on September 22, Rafsanjani said a group of sympathetic and good-willed people were drawing up a plan to end the current disputes, which could have bad consequences for society, and to thus create a constructive atmosphere.
“Unfortunately, certain people and media outlets reacted hastily” to the announcement of this plan, Rafsanjani stated in a meeting with the members of the Central Council of Iran’s House of Parties in Tehran on Sunday.
However, he said he approves of the plan and will discuss the proposal in a meeting with the Expediency Council members who devised it.
Rafsanjani also stated that the country’s political parties have a heavier duty than ever before.
Logic and experience show that it is impossible to administer the country through elections and the people’s vote without strong political parties, the EC chairman said
