TEHRAN - Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Larijani says that it is against the national law and the sharia (Islamic law) to pressure the judicial system to make political decisions.

Despite previous warnings, certain people still expect the Judiciary to show leniency, but the Judiciary acts on all criminal cases in accordance with the law, Ayatollah Larijani told judicial officials at a meeting in Tehran on Sunday.
He also said that the Judiciary will deal decisively with people who are mohareb (enemies of God).
The judicial system will never show any leniency in dealing with groups that are futilely attempting to disrupt national security and destabilize the Islamic Republic of Iran, he noted.
The Judiciary chief also said the two convicts who were executed on Thursday had taken up arms and affiliated with terrorist groups or had been arrested with explosives in their possession.
“The penal code was meticulously applied in all the stages of the legal proceedings” in their cases, he noted.
Ayatollah Larijani also advised all judges to follow the letter of the law and to not allow political disputes to cloud their judgment
