Status provides no impunity: party official

TEHRAN - Islamic Coalition Party Secretary General Mohammad-Nabi Habibi has said that there is no impunity based on a person’s status or position in the country.

Habibi made the remarks in an interview with the Mehr News Agency when was asked about the charges against the children of the Expediency Council Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani.
He went on to say that none of the charges against Rafsanjani’s sons have been proven yet.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he said Islamic belief, unity, and leadership were three key factors that contributed to the victory of the revolution in 1979.
And in order to guard the Islamic system, it is necessary to stick to these three key issues.
He went on to say that the Islamic Iran Participation Party and Islamic Revolution Mojahedin Organization have exceeded the red lines set by the Islamic Republic.
He also said there is no problem in having contacts with those reformist groups which have faith in the Islamic system and velayat-e faqih (rule by the supreme jurisprudent).
Asked about solutions to the current political crisis surfaced after the June 12 presidential vote, he said commitment to the principle of velayat-e faqih and observing the directives set by the Supreme Leader, who has the final say, could help resolve most of the current problems
