TEHRAN -- Tehran’s Milad Tower will be playing host to performances by Tahmures Purnazeri and Farshad Jamali from their successful album “The Land of the Sun”, which was released in 2008.

Members of the Iranian Sufi music ensemble Shams, Tahmures Purnazeri and Farshad Jamali, will perform the concerts apart from the ensemble from April 22 to 24, they said during a press conference last week.
“I have already had performances with various musicians and, like the Shams Ensemble’s works, the programs have been welcomed by music fans,” U.S.-based Iranian musician Tahmures Purnazeri said.
According Purnazeri, about 1.5 million copies of “The Land of the Sun” have sold throughout Iran and he hopes the concerts will likewise be warmly received.
No other member of the Shams Ensemble will accompany singer Jamali and composer Purnazeri in the concerts.
It has been rumored that Jamali and Purnazeri have separated from the Shams Ensemble, which is led by Purnazeri’s father Keikhosro.
“There are ups and downs in every relationship… many Iranian music groups have experienced these ups and downs and separations, which never hurt their position,” Purnazeri said.
Tickets for the concerts will be sold for 250,000 to 400,000 rials (about 25 to 40 U.S. dollars).
Purnazeri believes that Iran is currently offering the most expensive services for concerts.
“The price of tickets in Iran approach the price people must pay for tickets in Hollywood,” Purnazeri lamented.
During the concerts, Purnazeri and Jamali will debut pieces from “Sun’s Homeland”, their album that is waiting for approval by the Iranian Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance to be released.
Jamali will sing poems by Muhammad Iqbal and Iranian poets Rumi, Hamid Mosaddeq, Hossein Monzavi, and Mehdi Akhavan-Salis for the concerts.
