TEHRAN -- Iranian veteran graphic designer Ebrahim Haqiqi will open his first photo exhibit under the title of “Journey” at Tehran’s Dey Gallery.
“This is my first photo exhibit. The photos, taken during the years 1962 to 1974, feature journeys I have made to different locations in Iran,” he told the Persian service of ISNA.“I found the negatives in the archive of my home. When I developed the photos later on, I decided to display them for the first time,” he said.
“The photos in black and white are taken from different spots in villages and cities across the country. Some of these locations no longer exist or have changed greatly. The photos depict the architecture, cultural conditions, and types of living of people in those years,” he remarked.
He said that he still takes photos in cities wherever he travels, “I first decided to display my recent photos with old ones aiming to compare the sites, but later, I thought it would be better not to analyze them.”
A collection of 50 photos will be put on show for ten days beginning on May 7 at the gallery located on 1st Naz Alley, 4th Tangestan, near Pasdaran Ave.
Born in 1949 in Tehran, Haqiqi received an MA in Architecture from the University of Tehran and began his career in 1970. He has won many awards in both Iranian and international competitions and has designed many posters including one for the commemoration ceremony for the 100th Anniversary of the birth of Nima Yushij. Also, he designed the Crystal Simorgh, the trophy awarded to the winner of Iran’s Fajr International Film Festival.
