TEHRAN -- The chief executive officer of the Tehran Urban and Suburban Railway Company, Mohsen Hashemi Rafsanjani, has tendered his resignation to Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf.

And Qalibaf has accepted the resignation of Mohsen Hashemi Rafsanjani, who is the son of Expediency Council Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani.
The announcement of the resignation of the Tehran Metro CEO and the mayor’s acceptance of his resignation was made on Friday.
Following is an excerpt of Hashemi’s resignation letter:
Unfortunately, despite the support given by the Majlis, the Tehran City Council, and the Tehran Municipality to provide liquidity (to the Tehran Metro Co.) from various sources, including the annual (national) budget, foreign investment, foreign exchange reserves, and participation bonds, the legal credits cannot be used for certain reasons such as internal problems. And despite the foreign exchange income earned in recent years, important plans of the Tehran Metro for the development of the metro network cannot be implemented due to the government’s lack of cooperation.
Probably, some of the current problems and the lack of support are linked to the fact that I hold the post of Tehran Metro CEO. Therefore, I am resigning so that the passengers using the metro will not remain under pressure.
