TEHRAN -- The Majlis Foreign Policy Committee has drawn up a plan to downgrade ties with the United Arab Emirates, MP Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh announced in Tehran on Saturday.

Talking to reporters, Falahatpisheh said, “The plan has been submitted to the Foreign Policy Committee presiding board for more detailed examination.”
Falahatpisheh, who is the Majlis Foreign Policy Committee chairman, added the issue was studied during several sessions and what has been submitted to the presiding board is the result of related discussions.
Earlier, he had cited an inappropriate treatment of the Iranian nationals by UAE officials as one of the reasons behind the decision.
Falahatpisheh said, “Trade relations between Iran and the Emirates merely benefit the Emirates, but the way they behave toward our nationals is not justifiable.”
The Abu Dhabi officials always raise false issues with the aim of creating political tension, he stated.
He also said if the UAE officials drop their divisive approach toward Iran, Tehran may review its decision
