Vonn wins Super G crystal globe

American Lindsey Vonn claimed her third crystal globe in as many days when she won the World Cup Super-G title for the third year in a row after victory in Tarvisio.
Vonn mastered the 41 gates of the Artico di Prampero course in one minute 21.75 seconds, 0.23 seconds ahead of compatriot Julia Mancuso and half a second in front of German rival Maria Riesch.Her victory gave her an unassailable lead of 171 points over second-placed Riesch.
The 26-year-old secured the downhill title on Saturday and the super combined crown on Friday.
""It wasn't easy because the snow was very soft and it was easy to makes mistakes. But I did everything I could under the circumstances and I'm very happy,"" Vonn said.
""I'm happy to leave Italy with a victory. I would have liked to win the downhill but Anja Paerson was really too strong,"" Vonn added after claiming her 41st victory in a World Cup race and her eighth win this season.
Riesch still leads the overall World Cup standings but now holds a reduced advantage of 96 points with six races to go.
""Ninety-six points is a lot. And there are a lot of technical events left,"" Vonn said. ""I must not think about the overall World Cup and just focus on going fast.""
