Noruz to bring Spring Peace to holy shrines

TEHRAN -- Guardians of the holy shrines across Iran have been assigned to entertain pilgrims during the Noruz holidays in a program entitled the Spring Peace.
Cultural competitions for children and artistic and cultural exhibitions will be organized for pilgrims during the program, State Endowment and Charity Affairs Organization Deputy Director Hojjatoleslam Mohammad Gholami said last week.Inns at the holy shrines will provide services with low prices for the travelers, he added.
Iran is home to 8051 tombs of religious leaders and holy places, mausoleums of over 10,000 imamzadehs (descendents of imams -- Shia religious leaders) and tombs of 33 prophets.
According to the State Endowment and Charity Affairs Organization 94 million people visited the mausoleums of the imamzadehs during the period from March 21, 2007 to March 20, 2008.
