TEHRAN - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has said that the national economy is the focus of the enemies’ campaign against Iran.
The Leader made the remarks in an address to thousands of laborers from across the country at a meeting in Tehran on Wednesday, held ahead of International Workers’ Day, which is celebrated on May 1.“The enemy has mostly focused their campaign against Islam and the Islamic Republic on the economy, while they are pushing ahead with their efforts in the cultural, security, and political spheres and other areas in order to create a rift between the people and the (Islamic) establishment,” the Leader said.
And in this Year of Economic Jihad, the country’s laborers and officials should redouble their efforts to thwart the enemies’ endeavors, which are targeting the country’s economy, he added.
The Leader also stated that the domineering powers have made relentless efforts to deal a blow to the Islamic establishment.
Today, the hegemonistic and bullying powers have aligned themselves against the Islamic Republic in order to prevent the Islamic Revolution of Iran from inspiring other nations, he noted.
He went on to say that the enemies are making every effort in this regard, but all to no avail.
“They attempted to isolate Iran, but the result has been the opposite,” he said, adding that Iran has now come into the limelight and is being respected.
In conclusion, the Leader commented on developments in the Arab states experiencing pro-democracy protests, saying he envisioned a bright future for the region due to the Islamic movements that are currently underway.
