December 23, 1998 - 0:0
MADRID The Basque separatist movement ETA has extended its three-month-old unilateral ceasefire but criticised the Spanish government for failing to establish direct contact since the truce was declared. ETA, a Basque-language acroynm for Basque Homeland and Freedom, reiterated its promise to uphold an open-ended -- but not indefinite -- ceasefire promulgated September 21, said a Basque-language statement sent to media organizations in Spain's northern Basque country.
